Design lamps that change with you
A design lamp should not be replaced when your taste moves on. Ours are built to be remade. Change the shade, change the books, change the room, and the lamp becomes another one without you buying a new one. The BookLovers’ Light is designed by Heléne Friberg and handmade in Sweden from recycled, polished brass. Base, bookends and a height adjustable arm in one, with an ordinary E27 socket you can fit any bulb into yourself.
A DESIGN LAMP SHOULD OUTLIVE THE TREND THAT CREATED IT
We never draw a lamp for a single season. Everything we design has to be repairable, rebuildable and worth passing on. That is why we choose solid brass over coated sheet metal, and screws over glue.
What makes a lamp a design lamp?
The difference rarely sits in the shape. It sits in the decisions behind it. A real design lamp uses a material that ages well, a construction you can open, and a designer who answers for the whole. The BookLovers’ Light is designed by Heléne Friberg and handmade in Sweden from recycled, polished brass. The base rests on four round brass feet, the arm adjusts in height without tools, and the socket is an ordinary E27 you can fit any bulb into yourself.
Lamp design you finish yourself
Our lamp is never quite finished in the workshop. It is finished in your home. Two bookends mount onto the base plate and hold your books upright, and the books you choose become part of the lamp. Want a different mood this autumn? Change the books. Want a different light? Change the shade. Nothing has to be bought for the room to feel new.

Every lamp is made one at a time
We work with selected Swedish craftspeople who share our values. The brass is polished, assembled and marked by hand, and our logotype is engraved into the base plate of every piece. Small variations are not flaws. They are proof that a person, not a machine, held it last.
Change the expression, not the lamp
The same frame carries a sand coloured oval shade, a snow white round shade, or no shade at all. With a decorative globe bulb straight in the E27 socket the lamp turns graphic and bare. With the oval shade it turns warm and soft. It is the same design lamp throughout, and that is the entire point.
Brass that has already lived a life
Most of the brass we use comes from scrapped taps, other plumbing fittings and old candlesticks, recycled into new production. Brass is a cyclical material, used by people since before 1500 AD, and profitable to recycle again and again.
Over time it tarnishes and develops a patina. Want to keep the high shine? Polish it. Want to let it age? Do nothing at all. Both are right.
