The lamp that is also your bookend
Most table lamps stand beside the books. This one stands among them. Two bookends in recycled brass screw onto the base plate and hold the books upright, while the light falls straight down over them. The arm adjusts in height to your books without tools, and the books you choose become part of the lamp. One piece of furniture less on the dresser, and the books stop being something you tidy away.

How the bookends work
The two bookends are turned with their undersides facing each other over the screw holes in the base plate and fixed with the four screws supplied. You can let them show as a clear frame around the books, or hide them between the pages so the books appear to stand on their own. The base plate measures 32 x 20 cm and rests on four round brass feet.
The books are part of the design
This is where the lamp parts company with everything else. The arm adjusts in height to your books by gently loosening one of the brass screws, so the spines stand free whether you choose slim paperbacks or heavy photography books. Change the books and the lamp changes with them, without touching another screw.
The book belt, when you want to fill it up
If you want to pack in many books there is a hand braided book belt in three colour leather with a brass coloured buckle, 90 cm, that holds the stack together. One thing to remember: always fasten the belt around the books, never around the lamp arm.

Everything comes apart again
The whole lamp assembles with an ordinary small screwdriver. The bookends screw on, the straight rod of the arm screws down into the base and is secured with the bottom screw, and the height locks with the brass screws once you have found it.
That also means it comes apart. A lamp you can open is a lamp you can repair, and a lamp you can repair is a lamp you keep.
Where it earns its keep
A bedside table where the reading light should fall into the book. A hallway where the good spines meet whoever walks in. An office where the titles say something about what you actually do.
The textile cable in tweed cotton and natural linen is around three metres with a switch on the cord, so you are not tied to the nearest socket.
One lamp, six personalities
The gardener, the chef, the stylist, the sharp professional, the prima ballerina or the mancave. Which books you stand in it decides which one the lamp becomes.
And you do not have to decide once and for all. Swapping takes a few minutes, and then a completely different lamp is standing in the room.
