Sustainability in lighting is rarely about the glass of water. It is about what the lamp is made of, whether the parts can be unscrewed and repaired, whether the material is worth recycling, and above all whether the lamp is still beautiful in thirty years. Up to 80% of a product’s environmental impact is decided in the design phase. That is why our sustainability work starts at the drawing board, not at the bin.

We will never rush to catch a fast moving trend. We take responsibility for the entire life cycle of our products, and it is a long one.
Circular means it never runs out
A linear product goes from raw material to landfill. A circular one goes from material to product to material again. Our brass has already been something else, and will become something else after the lamp. We eliminate waste rather than managing it afterwards.
Sustainable design starts at the drawing board
Up to 80% of a product’s environmental impact is decided in the design phase. We weigh material, production, transport, lifespan, function and recycling before anything is made. Thinking it through costs less than cleaning it up, and it is the only part of the process where the decisions are still free.
Timeless is the most sustainable style
A design lamp that goes out of fashion has failed, however recyclable it is. Timeless design stays relevant without being carried by short lived trends, and a lamp you still like is a lamp that never needs replacing. That you can also change the shade and the books lets it follow you through several homes and several lives.
The more circularly we live today, the fewer indelible traces we leave behind.
Linear or circular
The difference between the two models is not academic. It shows in what is left. We choose noble, durable materials, give them new life and new function, and make sure they can be recycled again when they are finally finished with you.
Local production in small scale and to demand cuts transport, carbon emissions and waste along the way.
Old things, new points of light
We love giving worn out objects a new job. Crystal decanters become hanging lights, candlesticks become brass in a lamp base, and lace that would otherwise sit in a drawer becomes pattern on a tray.
